What´s your place of protection?

In a digital world surrounded by cameras and computers, daily news about violence, catastrophes and war numbs our senses. The future has taken refuge in the cyberspace of the Internet where reality melts into virtuality and the never ending search for love continues. In the search for the answer where we find love, Mia Florentine Weiss started a journey around the world, asking the question: " WHAT`S YOUR PLACE OF PROTECTION?"

For one year, the artist travelled through five continents and made mankind of all races and religions part of this multi-media art project. Based on her poetry performances, every week a digital poem clip with 52 answers to the question of protection has been updated online. Whether it´s in the slums of India, the Moscow Metro or in the desert of Africa – on every continent the desire for love and protection is equally strong but in every culture the answers are different. With digital poetry it´s possible to watch a poem and it´s performance as well as the audience´s reaction. The people´s poetry - the statements of the artist´s Interview partners - reflect the Zeitgeist of our time and the longing for love. Mia Florentine´s mission to find the ultimate place of protection is revealed in the very last poem clip Nr.53 where she gives a personal interpretation on her vision of protection. In addition to the Internet based project the 53 poetry clips are installed in a mixed-media installation.
